I have an older 2005 Global Industrial pallet jack scale that is not NTEP certified. So when our NTEP certified platform scale gave out, we didn't have a legal for trade scale to weigh (or prove accuracy) our pallets. Comparing the 2 pallet jack scales, the build quality is more than obvious with the GI scale. It's super heavy and built like a tank. Accurate too, when compared to other scales. So whoever they had building their scales in 2005, they did a good job and I believe we paid around $800 at the time. The Optima however seems more like an economical offering. Thinner steel, smaller display and overall just seems "light". I can't speak for the accuracy yet as I did have to calibrate the display since it wasn't measuring correctly. I calibrated using an 1875 lbs. load and so far it seems to weigh that amount correctly every time. However I have yet to test lighter loads to see if the accuracy extends across a range. Optima's shipping was quick, the scale was packed extremely well, and other than having to calibrate, it was an easy purchase.
