Sales Tax Exemption

Request a Tax Refund After Purchase

Purchasers with tax-exempt status can request a refund of sales tax charged on a completed order. Submit your documentation using one of the methods below.

Email Submission
  1. Email your documents to tax@scalesplus.com.
  2. Include your Order Number, email address, and organization name.
  3. Attach your valid state resale or exemption certificate.

After your documents are processed and accepted, we will issue a refund for the sales tax charged.

Self-Service for Future Orders

Prefer to upload once and have tax removed automatically on all future orders? Use the self-service option while logged in.

  1. Log in or create a Scales Plus account.
  2. Add your shipping address in the “Addresses” tab.
  3. Go to Tax Exemption in your account menu.
  4. Fill out the form and upload your certificate.
  5. Shop while signed in; eligible orders will not include tax at checkout.
⚠️ Tip: If you had items in your cart before uploading, remove and add them again to update the tax calculation.

What qualifies as documentation

Acceptable documents typically include a state resale certificate, an exemption certificate, or other proof of exempt status that is valid in the destination state for your shipment.
